Happy Monday Morning to YOU. Today as I stepped out back to get a glimpse of the first morning light, I was thinking again how Monday is my favorite day of the week. Just yesterday Builder and I were conversing about many things, and this came up, again. One of my favorite quotes still is the one referenced below, when I first wrote about Mondays. And I STILL feel that way.
Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet? Anne of Green Gables
OR in my words:
Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow starts a new week, with no mistake in it yet, and much opportunity?!

“Monday… A Favorite Day?
In a couple different conversations the past few days the topic of “favorite day” came up and I surprised my daughters by saying that YES Monday is my favorite day of the week. Do you think it is strange to be so enthusiastic about Mondays? It did seem funny, even to me, until I spent some time thinking about why I always look forward to Monday.

Monday is the bridge to the rest of the week.
It is my “reset after the weekend” day. As much as I enjoy all that the weekend brings, I love to get back to routine.
It is my “put the house back together after the weekend” day.
It is the start of a Fresh. New. Week. A little like Anne’s view of “tomorrow,” it is my delight in a new week, fresh with no mistakes in it.
A whole new menu starts on Monday
I am most likely to complete my fitness goals on Monday…
It is also the day when my pen most freely records the daily and moment to moment gifts that I find strewn across my path. It is during the early Monday morning quiet that I am most likely to have the richest morning routine of Bible reading, prayer, gratitude recording and writing.
It is also during that early morning time that I often find myself reflecting on the past and remembering. And as I’ve already said in the list, it’s the remembering of the daily gifts and reflecting, that inspires me and give me the joyful courage to approach the new week with energy and optimism.
Now, for a musical throwback moment. Thinking so much about Monday reminded me of a song from long ago. I hope it brings a little smile to you, maybe in part because it in no way reflects my feelings about Monday!
That is a pretty funny video, isn’t it! I am not sure I have ever seen a video of that group before, but I do remember singing along to their music on the radio when I was a kid.
Please tell me, what is your favorite day of the week? And why? One other thing I’d like to know is if reading my Monday list encourages you just a bit about that day which mostly dreaded!

I never reflected on my week like that… but after some thought, I realized what my favorite day actually was. Wednesday, seems like the perfect day to me. It is my day… recover from the weekend is over and the anticipation of the weekend begins. I guess there is a reason it’s called hump day… to me it is pretty much the pinnacle of the week.
Funny, because at least right now, Wednesday is my hardest day! Thank you for sharing :
Yes, definitely! Let’s bring Mondays their good name!
I love Mondays perhaps because I work at weekends so they are my days off, time I look forward to while others prepare lunches and head to work. Learning to like/enjoy/look forward to any day of our lives is essential. One and only life full of possibilities that come with each day. They go by so quickly.
Absolutely so true, learning to enjoy and embrace each day is important..but I do still have my favorite 🙂 The Seasons on the other hand are a different story. Each season is my favorite at the beginning!
Fridays are definitely my favorite day! It means the work week is over and I get to spend time with the family creating memories! Although, you may have persuaded me to not be so ornery with Mondays. Thanks for the thought provoking read!
Yes, Fridays are good too. I am just usually pretty tired…now Saturday, that’s another wonderful day! And hopefully Monday will be nicer to you from now on. Thanks for stopping by.
I too am a fan of Mondays! I love the fresh start of a new week so I can get back on track with my eating and exercising goals! Great article! Thanks
Yes!!! Mondays are great start up, start back up days!
Saturdays are by far my favorite day. It is a family day where we get to do all kinds of fun things together. I never looked Monday they way you do – but appreciate your perspective!
Mondays are very busy days for me and it seems I never accomplish it all. Tuesday is my make up day where I take care of everything that overflowed! Thanks for the post – it made me think about my week more!
I too love Mondays. It’s my get my life back in order day, laundry day, meal planning day all that organizing makes me a happy girl!
Mondays are rough for me. They come either after working at my job for 4 days plus all weekend or after a weekend of fun with family that I don’t want to end. I love Sundays best. Sundays are when I get to spend extra time with Gods sweet spirit and my Church Family.
I love the way you describe Mondays as a fresh new start. It’s like celebrating New Year’s every week. Great post and beautiful photos!
Yes, that is a wonderful comparison. The fresh start each year, and a fresh start each week. Thank you.
Monday may not be my favorite day of the week but being a SAHM I certainly appreciate it more than I did when I worked. Mainly for some of the reasons you mention – we get back to our routine and I can straighten up the house. I like Fridays because the weekend is coming!
Way to rescue the poor Monday – it definitely gets a bad rap! Once we get past Monday morning, I do think I enjoy the rest. It’s a day of hope for a week of accomplishment, still untainted by those random things that come up on other days that take away from your ability to actually get all of those things done. Well said.
My favorite day of the week in this season of my life is probably Thursday or Sunday. I go to college Monday through Wednesday, and work on Saturday and Sunday. Thursdays are wonderful days to sleep in and relax and recharge. Sundays are my husband’s only day off, so it’s become even more special to us lately. I love your positive attitude about the beginning of the week!
I am loving hear about each person’s favorite day and why. Especially since most of it relates to rest, order and family!
I have to say that every day is my favorite day of the week. This might sound like a “cheap” answer but it’s very true!
I have this running joke, you could call it, that I treat each day like a Friday. I’ve been doing this for probably at least a year and I tell you, it makes a HUGE difference when you think each day is Friday.
My fiancé is probably tired of hearing it haha but I think that knowing each day is the “best” day you have really makes each day worth living.
Great post!
That’s funny true! I have ringtone for my husband’s number “It’s going to be the best day of my life” and I love the way it reminds me to make today the best day! Thanks for joining the conversation!
I liked your view of Mondays…its so true. A start to a NEW week….a new routine…a do over. 🙂 My most favorite days are Wednesdays. It’s the middle of the week…and if I haven’t completed something yet I can do it then! Plus, it is our Cousin Day. Its where we get together with my mom, sister and her kiddos and our kids play. I love it because it’s bonding time between the cousins and bonding time between my mom and sister. 🙂
I would say Tuesdays are my favorite. This may sound mean but my daughter goes back to school on Tuesdays so it frees my schedule a bit so I can get things done and plan for the rest of the week. I love your perspective on Mondays. I never thought of Mondays like that before! Thanks for sharing your favorite day of the week!
Reading this post definitely put Monday into a better perspective. A new week is full of new and exciting possibilities. I also am a fan of routine and Monday helps with that too. In particular I like Saturday best. Friday is a work day and (at the end) a day of relief, but Saturday feels like a whole day to myself to do whatever I have to do. Seriously, even if its grocery shopping, cleaning, and paying bills, I’m happy to have Saturday because I take my time and enjoy, knowing that it’s all my time to use. In addition, there is always time for fun on Saturday and having the time to plan for a nice meal on Sunday. Saturday is the buffer zone between this week and next week for me.
I used to love Mondays too. Back when I was a stay-at-home mom, it was a wonderful day to reset, just as you said. Now that I am back in the workforce, I find myself cringing as Sunday evenings roll around. Life has its ebbs and flows and I suspect retirement will bring me back to loving my Mondays too. But for now, enjoy YOUR Mondays…you are blessed!
I can relate to this a bit! There is a sense of satisfaction ‘returning’ to the normalcy of the schedule each week. Buuuut, I still think I’ll take a Friday or Saturday over a Monday! Great perspective though!
It depends on the week which day is my favorite. I look forward to my Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the coffee shop, my Thursday afternoon babysitting, Wednesday nights at church, Sunday mornings at church and the free time known as Friday nights and all day Saturdays. I also look forward to my monthly homeschool group meetings on Monday nights. Each day has something special depending on what is happening.
I love that song too! Basically anything by the Mamas and the Papas is fabulous karaoke. 🙂
I, too, love Mondays. My energy is at an all-week high from the weekend days off. I get the most done on that day and I’m always so excited for a new week.
Thanks!
As odd as it might sound, I like Mondays too. I have always been self-employed with flexible hours so to me, every day has the potential to be a weekend so when Friday and Saturday roll around, while others with a 9-to-5 at an office rejoice, I look at them like any other regular day. Plus, I usually work every day of the week. However, mentally and workwise…Monday really does feel like a fresh start to me…I am usually the most productive on Mondays because that is when everyone else in my life is the busiest and I have fewer distractions.
As corny as this may sound every day is my favorite day. I I cherish everyday. I set my own schedule so any day of the week can be my Friday or Monday.
Wow, what a gift to set your own schedule! With a traveling hubby and kids in part time school, I pretty much follow the traditional weekend, school week schedule. But I don’t think it is corny at all to enjoy each day for it’s particular greatness! Each day is a gift!.
You know, come to think about it, Mondays are my favorite day too. This is such a great post.
🙂 Thanks Elaine!
Mondays are one of my favorite days of the week too!! And for so many of the same reasons. I’m up before everyone else, and relish that beautiful quiet start to my week. Thank you for sharing!
Sweet quiet morning hours! They are wonderful for sure! And with spring getting closer I’ve been thinking a lot about quiet mornings in the garden. Those mornings are even richer!
Not a fan of Mondays but I wouldn’t say I hated any day. I love Saturdays, Sundays are too close to Monday!
🙂
Michelle, I used to bemoan Mondays, and truth be told I did not enjoy getting up on any day of the week unless I could sleep in. Well fast forward to where I am today, and the Lord has really dealt with me about perspective (and truth me told it’s a continual work). So, now I can truly say that each day that I get to be alive is my favorite day.
YES!! Everyday is truly a gift! I started writing sometime back about my Open Heart Surgery and the way my perspective, my whole life, changed after that event!
Thanks for the new point of view on Mondays. More often then not I dread Mondays. Hopefully tomorrow I can at least try some of the things you mentioned. Maybe it will lead to Mondays being my favorite day of the week too?!
Maybe your new favorite, or maybe just another “good” day I hope!
I enjoy Mondays too. I like the feeling of a fresh school week and all the possibilities it holds. I also enjoy Sundays with their different rhythm and getting to go to church.
Each day does have it’s own rhythm and joy, doesn’t it?
My husband’s day off used to be Monday, so that was actually my favorite day. I enjoyed being able to be together as a family. And it is nice to be able to do things during the week that would be more crowded on the weekend. I’m sure this will be a bit tricky once the kids are in school. But for now…Monday it is! Thanks for getting me thinking.
My favorite day of the week is Sunday. That’s my day to go to church, spend time with family, rest and rejuvenate. I don’t mind Mondays though as that is a day off from work as well. It’s my get ready for the week ahead day. Thanks for sharing. I share your feelings on gratitude.
Gratitude really makes all the difference, doesn’t it? Choosing joy some years back took me on a gratitude journey and life has not be the same!
Love this! Such a good reminder that every day is a gift, if you’re grateful for it. I can definitely look at Mondays with disdain, not wanting to get back to work. But there are good things about it 🙂 It reminds me to just be more grateful in general! Love the music video at the end too!
Yes, gratitude helps us see the gifts in each day! Isn’t that video just a hoot? Oh the memories!
Personally, my favorite day is Saturday because that’s the day I’m most likely to rest. Thanks for sharing the positives about Mondays. I’ll try to remember it as a bridge the next time I’m tempted to complain about the start of a new week. 🙂
Ah, Saturday rest days are delightful. We don’t have many of those around here, but when a restful Saturday comes around I delight in it! I hope the bridge idea brings a little more joy to Monday. 🙂
I am not going to deny it! Mondays are difficult in our homes. We have such busy Sundays that it can be difficult to get back into the swing of things. But there will always be difficult days no matter, it might as well be Monday. Right?!
You are so right Kelly. After busy Sundays are you all able to take it slower and rest a bit on Monday? I hope so!
What a lovely post! I’ve never really thought much about a favorite day. I do like Mondays, too, now that I’m no longer working full time. I enjoyed reading your thoughts on Monday, and I’m subscribing to your blog.
Thank you Elaine. I look forward to conversing with you!
I’m commenting again so I can check the “notify me of new posts” box.
Thank you.
Good points about Monday! Love your blog and it definitely brought peace and inspiration. Monday does seem like a great start up day…excited to start a new week…and see all that the Lord has to bring in the new week.
Deb
What a great post. I know Monday mornings are not my favorite. You’re post challenged me to rethink how I feel about it though. My attitude can totally get my week off on a bad foot. I can’t answer your questions about what day is my favorite day either. I am going to think about that one…and try to change my attitude about Mondays!
This is such a great perspective on Mondays! I find Thursdays to be my hardest day… it’s that final stretch before Friday and the weekend begin that’s so tough.
Michelle, what a lovely post! Your reflection on your favorite day is enhanced by your beautiful photos! I love Friday (date night, most weeks) and Saturdays (less on the schedule). I had not thought about Monday as being a day of reflection. Thank you! ~Adrienne
This is such a positive way to look at Mondays. Very encouraging! I do enjoy some parts of Monday because the girls are back in school and we settle back into a schedule for the week. I am a creature of habit!
You know, I had just written a comment but when I clicked post it all went blank, so hopefully I’m not repeating myself here. But the gist of what I had written was that how I viewed Mondays has been reflective of how tired I was—Mondays were far more daunting as a very tired mom of babies. But I have learned more recently similar principles to what you’ve shared about all that Mondays can be, and I think you wrote about it beautifully. It reminds me of the verse in Proverbs, “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.”
Christy, I remember the exhausted fog during the days of littles! I had 3 babies in under 4 years, a teenager and a young adult daughter in that season and I was always putting one foot in front of the other, 1 day at a time. But they all grew and seasons changed! Thank you for referring to the verse in Proverbs, today I am thinking about the phrase “laughs at the time to come.” I am picturing joy and anticipation as new seasons are quickly approaching! Thank you for joining the conversation!
I never quite thought about Mondays like this before! Normally I dread Mondays, and think the weekend is over too soon. After reading this, I feel like I should change my attitude and embrace Monday instead!
I love your bridge picture! Friday is definitely my favorite day…it always feels like a party! 😀
“it always feels like a party” Love that!
It wasn’t until I started working from home that Monday became one of my fave days of the week. I’m with you, I love the start of a fresh week and all it can bring. I am excited to get up and begin creating and fleshing out new ideas. That video is priceless! The clothes and the dance moves. Different times. LOL That’s the beauty of YouTube. Thanks for sharing!
Kimberly, I am glad you enjoyed the video! I love searching for different musicians and songs on youtube to “enlighten” my kiddos!
