SnapShot Summary ~ October 30, 2010 Week 4

Monday, October 25 was declared a SNOW DAY.  Marme had lots to do to wrap up the plans for the last 2 weeks of this term’s lessons and prepare for our assessment later this week.

The Snow Day was a delight and a success.
Tuesday, October 26, 2010 we worked hard and got our lessons mostly done before we headed to a friend’s birthday celebration.  More snow fun, lots of girly laughter, good food and fellowship.

This evening was such a gift.  Our girls have so missed their friends, their cousins and grandparents.  These new friendships have been very slowly developing, but with the news that we will be in the area for 2 more years, there seems to be a bit more bonding going on.

Wednesday, October 27

We head into town to pick up mail and find WIFI at THE coffee shop in town, so that I can try to not go over my data limit this month.
We put in two pins ~ one for us, and one for the place where I was born and mostly grew up, just becuase there was a big empty place all over tornado alley.

Haha. I just read over that, I meant empty of pins, not that Tornado Alley is empty. Okay, the Coconut Mocha, free wifi and that comment has me giggling…

Thursday, October 28, 2010

No pictures today.  The sun was fully hidden yet again, behind clouds and thick fog.  We did pick up our posters of the Trees and of the Birds of Western North American from Canada Post.  They are laying out flat under some books, so we can get them pinned up!
Friday, October 29, 2010

A trip to town to pick up Chica’s glasses.  A morning full of lesson wrap ups.  I did poorly at getting our history readings done this week.  But we finished Science for the term and I can have some fun with history “double time” next week.

Here is a photo from the Chainsaw Carving Collection in town.

The Snowflake Dance

As the darkness faded

into light

Chica peeked out to a world

dimly bright.

IT’S A SNOWY DAY!

May I PLEASE go out

And play?

Before long sleepy Mae & Rose

Heard the joy

From Jams to Coats

They flew, to join

The SNOWFLAKE DANCE.

Imperfect Prose ~ By Chica

The wind is like a dance instructor.
It tells the trees how to move
And it sings.

Snapshot Summary Week #3 ~ October 23

Monday evening, October 18,, the girls work on their sketches for Sketch Tuesday.  This is a new favorite activity, giving the girls a way to share their artwork, and appreciate the work of others.
The pup is getting somewhat better, but does end up at the Vet’s office again.  This time, he also recieves “puppy shots” and over the next few days becomes very sick and we fear we may be loosing him.

A photo doesn’t do it justice.

Tuesday, October 19 Chica is mesmerized by the sunrise.
Once or twice a week, during our trip to town to pick up mail, we go past the Rec Centre to see how things are going.  This day was a screamin’ excitin’ day!  The slide installation has begun!

The first pumpkins I’ve seen in stores up here, sitting with some pretty pieces I found on clearance at the Safeway in Dawson Creek.

The Beaver Lodge at the Mill Pond.  A very different scene than we’ve seen since we have arrived.

Three more flowers found

That pretty smiling girl made Marme a daisy chain bracelet.

We didn’t know that this walk/ride was the last before the snow was to start.

We finally set to work painting these pretty little pumpkins.

A little glitter.  of course.

And what could we possibly do with these pretty apples?
And these?

No pictures, but oh were those caramel apples good.  And a balm to these homesick Colorado girls.  We have sorely missed the longer sunnier summer slide into fall of home.  These little things were fun.
