These Moments, Fringes Hours Full

These Moments, which are just a snapshot of  truly delightful day full of family and friends celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We attended morning services, full of celebratory music and teaching from Hebrews 9.

Enjoyed a mostly gluten free meal (something that has been a real struggle, but I’m learning!), followed by this gluten free Empty Tomb cake made by Mae, with family and friends.

Spent a couple of hours at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, taking advantage of our brand new membership.

This day was truly a delight to my soul.  It is quite hopeful to me, that maybe I’ll learned the secret of being able to enjoy a family gathering or  day of celebrating.  Saturday I spent most of the day preparing “cold foods” for Sunday’s celebration.  We used paper plates, and most of the foods were served in the dishes they were stored in.  Score!  Another bonus…the natural gathering place in our home is now the kitchen.  It is big enough,  after the remodel, to hold anyone and everyone, so even when I was washing a few dishes or putting away food, I wasn’t tucked back alone in the kitchen.  All of those pieces made the difference in my being able to fully enjoy the day!

This week was crazy upsidedown busy, (so true that a sick kiddo, 1.5 hour unplanned dr visit, and a long dentist appt can upset the balance in a week) but I still made time for some sewing at my newest sewing area.  Hubby graciously gave me this area while working on the last bit of the basement remodel.

I don’t usually bring my computer down while I sew, but I was running videos to build up my swagbuck bank some more.  Most days I try to get the daily meter goal, then consider the swagbuck task complete.  That day I squeaked them out while sewing.

The table looks cluttered in this photo, but I was in the midst of pinning and also dashing off to do a school pick up.  This is just what it all looked like when I returned.  See that soft stack of flannel on the shelf?  Toddler winter pjs are in the plans!

The next time I left the sewing area, it looked like this, two projects nearly completed.  The tote bag came together on Sunday evening, the dress another afternoon, well the main seam and pinning the hem.  I just need to actually sew the hem and attach the ribbon shoulder straps, and the dress will be ready for my youngest sweetie.

Now to top it off, this evening, after dinner we are all heading to the sewing area, to tackle more projects (finish dresses) and fill eggs for the littlest sweetie in the bunch.

What I’m Into February 2015 Edition

So it is March 3, I am a little late to the conversation yet again.  But that is okay I think.  February was a rougher month, lots of snow, cold and gray skies along with cancellations and some of the blues.  But the sun does shine again, encouragement is given and received and we press on toward spring and joy!  Here is February in a nutshell:

Read and Reading:

Own Your Life by Sally Clarkson, Fringe Hours by Jessica N Turner, Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan (audiobook)

Currently reading: Made for Heaven, Your Beautiful Heart, I Dared to Call Him Father, The Magna Charta

(I completed _3_ books this month)

TV:

Hmm, my kids got me hooked on Once Upon A Time and we binged on the show every Thursday & Friday evening…getting through all 3 seasons on Netflix. The kids have moved on to Star Trek & Classic Dr Who, but I am “fasting” from Netflix for awhile. I don’t like how pulled into that show I found myself! While I enjoyed sharing the time with my daughters, I missed the time of reading together or sewing.

Music:

I am pretty excited about children’s music once again. My grand daughter has enjoyed the Linda Arnold cds and the Bear Tunes that I pulled out recently.

Picking Up Needles Again!

This Moment, a moment to remember, to celebrate, as I thought this week begin picking up the needles again, redeeming some of those moments waiting in the car pool lane, or passing a few minutes with a teen in the car before she dashes off for another round of classes.

Inspired by the new book Fringe Hours by Jessica Turner, I’ve been on the look out for my own #fringehours.  It ‘s been a long while since I picked up a set of knitting needles and a ball of yarn, but this week I found a simple pattern, took a few minutes to pull a set of needles out of the tub on the top closet shelf and managed to remember to put the items in the van!

Never have I been an accomplished knitter, but I do enjoy the craft.  One afternoon this week I had a few minutes with my 15 year old daughter, just waiting in the van.  I pulled out the needles and yarn and let her refresh me on seed stitch.  Sweet precious moment!

This photo was taken the morning after our Thanksgiving celebration after I looked through the window and SAW.

The day before, chairs had been evenly set around each table.  A little while into the afternoon I did hear the laughter and I did see the big group of cousins gathered around.  But it wasn’t until the next morning that it was clear.  They were all in.
