This song was sung in the services on Sunday and truly ministered to me. All of the youtube videos are of church ensembles, and I’ve linked one here. But, the words alone are beautiful and so comforting.
Trust in God, My Soul
Words by Frances Havergal and David Burke
Oh, Lord, I trust Your grace; it is enough, enough for me.
In every trial I shall trace its all-sufficiency.
And, Lord, I trust Your strength; in You alone I shall be strong:
My failing flesh will learn at length a daily triumph song.
Oh, trust in God, my soul, and look into His face.
Oh, trust in God, my soul; His holy will embrace.
Then I shall stand complete and whole, a trophy of His grace
As I trust God.
Oh, Lord, I trust Your Word; it gives me hope and light to see.
The path ahead, though now obscured, will open wide for me.
Oh, Lord, I trust Your love; I feel its warm and changeless glow;
My life or death shall only prove its everlasting flow.
Oh, trust in God, my soul, and look into His face.
Oh, trust in God, my soul; His holy will embrace.
Then I shall stand complete and whole, a trophy of His grace
As I trust God.

Giving Tuesday? What is it?
From the Giving Tuesday site
“We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.”
So knowing just what Giving Tuesday is, what does one do with it? There are so very many good options for giving back, giving a hand, lifting others up!
For my family, it is about families and children. Coming from broken families, my husband and I are committed to do what we can to help families make it. And children, yes children. That is part of why we are so involved with Compassion International. Through sponsorship, we not only are able to invest in the life of a child, but by lifting a portion of the financial burden, we are walking alongside the whole family!
This month I am advocating for 2 precious children, Abayisenga Joice and Baginama Faustin. These two children are available for immediate sponsorship, through Compassion International.
How about turning #GivingTuesday into a year long commitment to financially sponsoring, encouraging and praying for a child living in poverty?
How about telling poverty that…
#givingtuesday and Child Sponsorship means poverty does NOT have the last word for Abayisenga nor Baginama
If you are interested this #givingtuesday, in telling poverty “you do not have the last word” by sponsoring one of these children, please email me at byquietwaters at gmail. I would be thrilled to give you more information and help you give poverty the boot!

What I’m InTo November 2014 Edition
The 13th Gift by Joanne Huist Smith, The 20th Christmas (seems I took an early Christmas detour in my reading at the beginning of November!), The Christmas Jar (a request from my youngest daughter)
Currently reading:
Families Where Grace is in Place, and Misplacing God (and finding Him again), War of Words
(I completed _3_ books this month)
TV: Rewatching Dr Who episodes and have started Sherlock with my kids. I started out really not liking Sherlock. But I’ve been drawn in, just like with the doctor.
Music: Enjoying the music of James Galway, and seeing the music further inspire my young flutist.
Christmas music in small, worshipful doses. Yes. Especially liking the new music by Shaun Groves, and for the “young nana” a bit of 1 Girl Nation Christmas cheer. But he commercialism Christmas music is completely gagging me right now. The sound of a trumpet singing through the house, yes. The lilt of a flute floating on the air. The depth and range of a growing pianist brings me to song. Music is my love language.
And I am back to listening to Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. Love is not a victory march.
Things I Loved in November: Quiet rhythm, warm house on cold nights, lavender scented rice cuddlers, a house full on Thanksgiving. Gift card holders out of Altoids tins. Pumpkin pie. and Cuties. YES. Laughter of teens ringing loud and pure.

{this moment} ~ A Friday ritual. A single photo – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.
This photo was taken the morning after our Thanksgiving celebration after I looked through the window and SAW.
The day before, chairs had been evenly set around each table. A little while into the afternoon I did hear the laughter and I did see the big group of cousins gathered around. But it wasn’t until the next morning that it was clear. They were all in.
