Monday, A Favorite Day of the Week

Happy Monday Morning to YOU. Today as I stepped out back to get a glimpse of the first morning light, I was thinking again how Monday is my favorite day of the week. Just yesterday Builder and I were conversing about many things, and this came up, again. One of my favorite quotes still is the one referenced below, when I first wrote about Mondays. And I STILL feel that way.

Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet? Anne of Green Gables

 OR in my words:

Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow starts a new week, with no mistake in it yet, and much opportunity?!

“Monday… A Favorite Day?

In a couple different conversations the past few days the topic of “favorite day” came up and I surprised my daughters by saying that YES Monday is my favorite day of the week.  Do you think it is strange to be so enthusiastic about Mondays?  It did seem funny, even to me, until I spent some time thinking about why I always look forward to Monday.

Monday is the bridge to the rest of the week.

It is my “reset after the weekend” day.  As much as I enjoy all that the weekend brings, I love to get back to routine.

It is my “put the house back together after the weekend” day.

It is the start of a Fresh. New. Week.  A little like Anne’s  view of “tomorrow,” it is my delight in a new week, fresh with no mistakes in it.

A whole new menu starts on Monday

I am most likely to complete my fitness goals on Monday…

It is also the day when my pen most freely records the daily and moment to moment gifts that I find strewn across my path.  It is during the early Monday morning quiet that I am most likely to have the richest morning routine of Bible reading, prayer, gratitude recording and writing.

It is also during that early morning time that I often find myself reflecting on the past and remembering.  And as I’ve already said in the list, it’s the remembering of the daily gifts and reflecting, that inspires me and give me the joyful courage to approach the new week with energy and optimism.

Now, for a musical throwback moment.  Thinking so much about Monday reminded me of a song from long ago.  I hope it brings a little smile to you, maybe in part because it in no way reflects my feelings about Monday!

That is a pretty funny video, isn’t it!  I am not sure I have ever seen a video of that group before, but I do remember singing along to their music on the radio when I was a kid.

Please tell me, what is your favorite day of the week?  And why?  One other thing I’d like to know is if reading my Monday list encourages you just a bit about that day which mostly dreaded!

#igquiltfest Day 2 ~ First Quilt

Day 2 of the #igquiltfest is sharing our first quilts. There were some story quilts way back in the beginning, simple large block patchwork that I made during out Five in a Row homeschooling days. But there is a different quilt that I count as the FIRST.

in 2004 or 2005 I joined some sweet older ladies in our church to learn how to make a quilt. Each week we learned a new block and I made this, a Christmas quilt. This quilt became the “quilt of Christmas Dreams” and we created a fantastic family tradition around that quilt. Years passed and the kids grew up, and one by one I”ve made them their own Christmas quilts to create new traditions with.

This one though was looking a little in need of repair. As a beginning quilter some of my seams didn’t hold up too well, and the quilting I did on my little sewing machine had to come out to repair the quilt.

This quilt is now backed in soft minky, and was one of the first quilts I quilted on my long arm machine. Now it is a part of our Christmas decor, and each year I get to sit under this quilt for a little while and remember sweet days gone by.

The days were sometime so very long, but I am completely amazed at how short the years were. All my kids are grown and living their lives in various cities near and far. It is very good to have this quilt full of memories and the current of joy knowing those kids grew up into truly wonderful people.

#igquiltfest2025 Introductions

Hello there. I spend time over on Instagram with lots of other quilters and fantastic people. During the month of March, Amy of Amy’s Creative Side hosts #igquiltfest, and for the first time, I’m going to join in. I have a little goal of posting 20 of the 31 prompts, we’ll see how well I keep up.

Day 1 is introductions, here is my post on Instagram. And below is a photo of me, up in the mountains, among the trees, my favorite place to be!

Anyway, I am Michelle, the person behind Colorado Beauty Quilts and also this blog. We have a couple other irons in the fire, all of which keep me good and busy.

I’ve raised 5 children, and have a bunch of grandchildren. These are the people who bring me great joy, and a lot of love. Once we became empty nesters, I decided to adopt another dog. So we have Luna our older German Shepherd, and Pippen, our younger little companion. I never would have guessed that I’d become a little dog person, but Pippen has me totally smitten.

Well now that I’ve introduced myself, I hope to “meet” you in the comments!

May grace and peace be with you.
