Letter Writing

05 Friday Apr 2013

Each month, on the 1st Friday of the month, my Iphone beaps.  The message on the screen tells me that it is Compassion Letter Writing Day!

Usually this is just a quiet activity that I complete at my desk, as my children have set aside different times for their letter writing.  The past week my children and I have been reading a book together that was HARD.  It prompted many discussions, and it drove us to the Bible.  And what we found there I wanted to share with the girls we sponsor through Compassion (I write to the girls, Builder writes to the boys and young men).  Here is what I wrote this month;

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Jeremiah 29:11

Dear Precious Child

The verse I started this letter with has a message I encourage you to think about.  The LORD God thinks about YOU!  He loves you and has a hopeful future for you.

Over the last week my daughters and I have been reading a story that caused us to look into the Bible, to read about what God thinks about each of us.  In Zephaniah 3:17 we learned this:

The LORD your God is in your midst, The Mighty One will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness.  He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.

How do those words make you feel?  Do you know that God rejoices over you?

He does.  He loves you so very much.

I hope these words encourage you.

With love,

your sponsor.

It is my hope that in sharing this, you too will be encourage by these words.  The LORD rejoices over you.  And I hope to encourage you to write a letter of hope to someone, your own child, a sponsored child, or anyone you know that could use a little encouragement.

“Dial Kids Body & Hair Wash, for children ages 6+, offers mild cleansing without drying out your child’s delicate skin.  Watery Melon and Berry Cool variants contain bright, vibrant colors and fun scents that take bath time to a whole new level of fun!”

We received the sample of Dial Kids Watery Melon Body & Hair Wash.  Chica was excited to try out the new product, enjoying that it was “her own” to sample and report on.

Chica has dealt with eczema, and notices irritants quite quickly.  She told me that her skin didn’t feel dry after showering with the Body & Hair wash, and that it was fun only using one product for her hair and skin.  In a word, “WONDERFUL.”

If you would like to try this new soap for Kid from Dial, we have 2 FREE product coupons to giveaway.

He is RISEN, amazing grace

01 Monday Apr 2013

Recently I was in a small group gathering listening to prayer requests.  When it was my turn, I was unable to speak for a moment.  It took a small bit of time to think of these words;

Life is full.
Life is hard.
Life is good.

The fullness, the hard and the good continue on.  And each day strength and joy for the day is found in His amazing grace.  Hallelujah, He is risen.

Mail Call, from Tanzania

The mailbox has been empty for a couple of weeks, but the other day we found one of those off white envelopes.  I love the stationary that is used by the student centers in Tanzania.  Cheerful Greetings indeed.

With this letter there was a drawing, and what appears to be a report card!

This part of child sponsorship is continuing to produce benefits in our home.  While we write letters of encouragement, it’s the letters we receive that seem to work a change in us.  The opportunity to “know” these kids, to see that while they live in a very different set of circumstances, they are JUST LIKE US.”  A kinsmen ship has developed.  An ownership of this family ministry is blossoming in each member.  With each letter that goes back and forth, we are the ones blessed to be in these relationships!

Visit the site if you are interested in learning more about child sponsorship through Compassion International.
