For some time I’ve been searching, seeking to learn how to take my life events and turn them in to something more than a story of the past. To take those stories and turn them into a testimony of the Lord’s goodness, of His mercy and redemptive work in my life.
This book is ordered in 12 Movements, with four to five chapters per movement. The content of the book is followed by Toolbox, which includes a twelve-week facilitator guide, a personal inventory guide and a few other items. In the very back of the book is a large fold out page, The Life Scroll.
Although I didn’t complete the reading and Life Scroll, I think this The Sacred Slow is a wonderful tool. It is a book that I think you need to make a generous time commitment to, something that just didn’t fit into my life in this season.
A couple of the treasures that I did find in this book are:
“Attending to God’s love is not the blissful fallout of sensationalism, but the cultivated fruit of intentionality.” How true. So much richer and deeper is the time we spend in regular time in the Word and in Prayer with the Father.
“Faith is a glorious opportunity live in Him–with or without the experience of feelings–through willful moment by moment attentiveness to Jesus, Whose presence neither surges nor wanes.”
I am sure that there are many more nuggets of treasure to glean in this book, and hopefully I’ll get back to it.
