I am very inspired by this idea and have mentioned to my kids. It may be that we plan a few days of Spring Break and definitely a week in the summer for such a thing. What could a family learn from a week of intentional and varied reading? I’m looking forward to finding out!
So far this year I’ve enjoyed a bit more fiction than usual. Many years ago my mother introduced me to the Mitford series by Jan Karon and just recently I read some books that followed the original series. This month I read A Common Life. This is the wedding story of Cynthia and Father Tim. I tried to read Shepherds Abiding next, but decided to save it for another time.
*The Twelve Week Year validated an idea that has been brewing in my mind over the last 2 years. It may be an upcoming topic on the blog, or maybe not. Have to sort it out for myself first.
*Who Am I by Jerry Bridges is a wonderful book diving into our identity in Christ. Our pastor often brings that important topic into sermons and it was really good to listen to the audiobook, to get a focused look at the subject.
*A Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare. This audio book was an absolute treat. The familiar voices of David Tennant, and Brendon Coyle made the story all the more enjoyable. And I completed another category of the reading challenge I am participating in for this year! A book I should have read in school!
*The Better Life by Claire Diaz Ortiz. This is a short inspirational book made up of short essays or vignettes on topics that help on to build a life well lived.
In February I completed reading 6 books and started way too many more. My March reading stack is a little hefty, but that is in part because I can’t choose when the library holds will become available! It is a good thing that spring break is in just 4 weeks, and I’ll have some larger chunks of time to devote to reading.
All is Grace by Brennan Manning and Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good by Jan Karon are my audible “reads” for March. Fervent will continue to be my slow read. I am really excited that it is the Bloom pick for a Book study in March! Check it out! Maybe you’ll want to join in
What are you reading this year? This month? Or even next month?
