As the remodel has progressed and school work increased reading in August declined. I found myself only able to read a chapter or so first thing in the morning and last thing at bed time. That’s okay though, as I did make it through two gems! The stack will be reordered and added to for September!
The Antelope in the Living Room by Melanie Shankle This book was a delightful piece of comic relief as my home continued the craziness of kitchen & bathroom remodel and sending the kids off to new school situations.
Sheba’s Song by J.A. Harbison ~ A very delightful story of a young girl growing up and thriving despite the hard struggles faced by girls in poverty stricken areas of India and her American sponsor, a farmer in Iowa. I have been encouraged by this book in my own letter writing, feeling as though I have a better understanding of the lives of the girls and young man we sponsor in India.
On my nightstand September 2014
Just a note on the American Voices. That is a book that I have been reading from for a couple of years. Last week I put it back on my nightstand again and the plan is to find a couple speeches and articles that fit where two of my daughters are in American history (they are not studying the same time frames)
