Just in time for autumn, the colorful board book “My Happy Pumpkin” has me cuddling up with my granddaughter reading and talking about visiting the pumpkin patch.
It will be a little while longer before pumpkins are ready, but the story will help build the anticipation.
Using simple rhyme and colorful pictures a lovely story is told. In the story the little boy makes a jack o lantern out of his pumpkin pick. He then compares the process of making a jack o lantern from a pumpkin with how God cleans us up and puts His light in us to shine.
Small children will eagerly open this pumpkin-shaped board book to discover the delightful story and colorful illustrations, by artist Claudine Gévry. Using sing-song rhyme, author Crystal Bowman describes a fun fall tradition – carving a pumpkin face. But she adds a twist that helps preschoolers grasp the concept of God’s life-changing love for them. Just like we scoop out the inside a pumpkin, God makes us clean on the inside too.
