Maybe you’ve heard? The movie, God’s Not Dead 2 opens the weekend of April 1-3, 2016. My family enjoyed the first God’s Not Dead movie a couple of years ago and I’m pretty excited to see the sequel!
In addition to the excitement over hearing that the movie is coming out soon, I received an offer for a copy of the paperback God’s Not Dead by Travis Thrasher. It is a novelization of the upcoming movie. It’s been fun to get to “read” the movie before it comes out and I am purposely writing this blog post BEFORE I finished the book, so I don’t leak any spoilers.
Basically, a high school AP teacher answers a student’s question which brings Jesus into a discussion about non violent protest. The words the teacher speaks are repeated to parents of students in the class and a religious uproar erupts. The situation goes to court and the subject of the separation of church and state is debated.
The book fills in many details, backstories and connects to the first movie. While I am not enjoying a novelization of a movie, I do appreciate the story. And I am looking forward to the April opening of the movie!
These movies and the book are produced by Pure Flix. They are entertaining, with a strong message to Christians to be ready, prepared, to give an answer for the hope that within us. Even when the hope that is within us is told to leave the classroom.
The Tyndale Blog Network supplied me with a copy of this book in exchange for my opinion.
