One evening after the dishes were done I slipped down to my “new” sewing area, set the iTunes radio to a quiet station and put the hem onto a little pink dress.
For this project I used Simplicity 1673. It should have been simple enough but I ran into trouble with the shoulders and facing. After a bit of time trying to make the pattern instructions work, I changed up the project just a little. Instead of the flat simple neckline, I added a collar. The problem might be the fabric, as it is a little bulky. The dress looks delightful with the peter pan type collar!
In my button jar I found pink flowers and a bee button so I stitched on those! So delighted to have another project completed, and a happy little girl to try it on!
This unfinished edge is from changing things around for the collar instead of facing. I think I can do a topstitch to tack down the collar and cover that edge. It is just something I didn’t catch until sewing on the buttons.
Perfect for spring and delightful to Nana! The making of the little pink dress during my fringe hours was so enjoyable, the satisfaction of being intentional to finish it, and the joy of putting it on my grand daughter is something I am celebrating today.
Your turn, what little thing did you do this week to enjoy a little time nurturing yourself?
