This letter though, was difficult to read and process. We were dealing with some significant home repairs needed (main sewer line repairs), but we had enough resources to meet that need. We have a Builder Man who has good work, who has a bounty of creative, technical knowledge and skill to tackle this repair, we had the funds needed to pay for the repair. Honestly, we have more than enough.
The letter.
What does one do with a letter like this?
Can you imagine what happens to a mud, cowdung and bamboo house in the rainy season? Can you imagine mothering without knowing how to read nor write?
It is a delight to have a letter from Priti. It truly is. It is also so very hard. My heart is grieved to know the circumstances of her life. But this is why we do what we do with some of our more than enough. By sponsoring Priti, we come alongside her parents, distant shoulder to distant shoulder, for Priti, for her family.
It has been 3 1/2 years since that first letter, and we’ve had the joy of continue the letter writing relationship with Priti. She has hope, and joy, she is learning to read and to write. Someday, I believe, she will teach her momma to read and to write. Sponsorship costs $38 a month, but I honestly believe the prayers, the time and the words we invest in Priti’s life will make the greater difference. I can’t lift Priti out the slum where she lives, but I can speak life and dreams to her and I can pray until I see how God will move in her life.
Will you, please, consider sponsoring a child like Priti??
Share hope with a child, with a whole family for $38 a month, letters and an abundance of prayers?
What a letter! I think of how many homes provide literally no protection or shelter in the rain. It is hard to fathom.
Yeshaswini was on my prayer list for awhile but she's gone now…. hope she got a sponsor! That letter is pretty heartbreaking
Oh my! What a heart-wrenching first letter! We will be praying for Priti and her family! Thank you for being so willing to bless this precious child and her family!
