It’s only January, I know. Easter is a couple of months away, but, in case any readers might be looking for a new devotion over Lent, I want to share this book today.
Devotions for Easter, written and compiled by Stacy J Edwards, is a gentle companion for Lent. In it are warm stories, Scripture and prayers, as well as stunning, beautiful photographs. I haven’t been so taken by the simple beauty of a book’s cover and pages before. I feel this is a perfect one to leave on the table each day, beside a candle or a vase of flowers, so that others will pick it up, enjoy the beauty and soak in the warmth of the words.
There are 40 devotions with titles like No Turning Back, The Mixing Bowl, The Head that Once Was Crowned with Thorns, Your Most Precious Thing, and “People Feet”. Through the book, the stories are Scripture are woven together, in such a way that the Scriptural account of Jesus last days, His death and His Resurrection don’t seem so removed from our “everyday” life. Remembering Jesus’ story, which is so much more than a story, will make our own lives so much better. Consider adding Devotions for Easter to your Lent preparations.
